Several government, non-profit and faith-based organizations in Kane County provide social services to local residents. The resources and links below are provided to help you find the help you need.

Kane County 211

Kane County residents are now able to dial 211 to access information on local human services and resources made available by over 1,000 government, non-profit and faith-based organizations in Kane County. The service provides callers with free and confidential assistance with needs such as emergency shelter, food, utility assistance, counseling, senior services, employment and health care. Callers are connected to a live specialist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

PATH Crisis Center Resource Directory

PATH’s online database is available to anyone looking for basic needs, crisis and mental health services, financial assistance, health care, support groups, etc.

Sugar Grove Township General Assistance

General Assistance (GA) is a locally administered welfare program that provides monthly financial assistance to persons who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own basic needs. Contact the Township Office at (630) 466-4283 for more information.

Sugar Grove Township Senior Transportation

The Sugar Grove Township recently enhanced transportation services for seniors and disabled persons in the Township. Seniors, ages 65 & up, or disabled residents may schedule rides for medical appointments, employment and shopping within Kane County (limitations apply) Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:30 pm. Interested persons need to register at the Sugar Grove Township office prior to scheduling a ride. The fee is $3 per ride within a 10 mile radius and a companion may ride along for free. Sugar Grove Food Pantry – Between Friends

The Sugar Grove Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization that assists individuals and families in need with information, food, household items and school supplies in Sugar Grove and surrounding communities.

Illinois Benefits Access Program (formerly Circuit Breaker Program)

The Illinois Department on Aging offers the Benefit Access Program for seniors and persons with disabilities. Benefits include:

  • Seniors Ride Free Transit Benefit
  • Persons with Disabilities Free Transit Ride
  • Secretary of State License Plate Discount

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a nonprofit charitable organization founded to serve those in need. Associated with St. Katharine Drexel Catholic church, the Society serves Sugar Grove, Big Rock, and surrounding areas of Kane County. Typically the Society offers short-term assistance with bills such as rent, a mortgage payment, utilities, medical bills, car repair, or other important expenses.
