Adopt-A-Highway

The Illinois Adopt-A-Highway program brings citizen volunteers into partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to pick up trash and keep roadsides clean. Volunteer groups agree to remove litter from the assigned section of highway at least four times each year for a two-year period. IDOT provides safety vests and trash bags and removes the filled bags from the roadside.

In 2020 Citizens of Sugar Grove officially adopted the two mile stretch of Sugar Grove Parkway (IL 47) from Prairie Street north to Bliss Road/Wheeler/Rd. All community members are invited to participate. Before starting, volunteers must watch a short safety video. All volunteers must adhere to the safety precautions demonstrated. Volunteers must be 11 years of age or older.

For more information, please contact Citizens of Sugar Grove Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator Jen Konen at jkonen@sugargroveil.gov.
