My wife Sarah and I have been residents of Sugar Grove since 2008. We are a family of busy bodies. We volunteer in variety of community activities or with groups in and around Sugar Grove. Our roles have varied but we have enjoyed being youth leaders at church, volunteers at community events such as the Corn Boil, Holiday in the Grove, and the Sugar Grove Food Pantry. We coach after school and summer Park District activities. We have also volunteered as coaches for Kaneland Youth Soccer and the High School Track & Field team.
Currently, I am an elementary school teacher and have worked in the Kaneland school district since 2013. Prior experience includes four years as a restaurant manager, ten years as a soldier in the Army and an account manager/brand advocate for a global appliance manufacturer.
Why I ran for public office: I ran for public office for a few reasons. One reason was that I love to serve. That is the same reason I became a teacher and enlisted in the military. There is nothing better than being part of the process. Another reason for running is my belief that it is our responsibility to be involved in our community. We get out of our community what we put into it. It’s not always easy or convenient and sometimes even requires a little sacrifice but, in the end, it can be very rewarding.
