Trustee Michael Roskopf

Term of Office: May 2025 to May 2029

Family: I have been married to my wife Kristen since 2020.  I am a stepfather to two wonderful kids who live with us.  I also have two adult children.

Work Experience: I am a licensed Certified Public Accountant. I started my career in the private sector as a corporate accountant, tax accountant, controller, and company treasurer.  I have worked at the Internal Revenue Service since 2004.

I began my government career as an Internal Revenue Agent (auditor) working primarily on large corporate taxpayer cases.  I then transferred to the Appeals division. I started as an Appeals Officer, and my job was to resolve disputed examination cases for individuals and mid-size corporations.  I am currently an Appeals Team Case Leader.  My job is to lead a team consisting of various technical people to resolve tax disputes on large-dollar complex issues.

Activities:  My favorite activity is traveling and I enjoy finding new places to visit.  I also enjoy hiking, live music, poker as well as volunteering.

I have volunteered for many years at various schools (both in the classroom as well as on the PTO).  I have been a  Boy Scout leader for 18 years and have volunteered for various veteran organizations.

I spent 8 years in the military including service in the Middle East during Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait).  I am a member of the Veterans of foreign Wars and involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Why I became a Trustee:  As a long-time active voter, I had no ambition to run for public office. However, I felt that my voice and the voices of many other residents were not being heard by our previous Village Board. I am a very analytical and detail-oriented person. My financial background will help drive the board toward fiscal responsibility. I want the Village to have a good working relationship with all taxing bodies, and I would like to promote transparency regarding decisions that affect our residents. The Village Board's decisions can impact the schools our children attend or the Fire Department's ability to assist us in an emergency.
