Village to Host DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Event October 24, 2020

On Saturday, October 24, 2020, the Village of Sugar Grove Police Department will host a drug take back event as part of the National DEA-sponsored Drug Take Back Day. The event will be held at Village Hall, 10 S. Municipal Drive, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse and overdose. Proper disposal of unused drugs saves lives and protects the environment. Drug take-back programs focus on collecting these unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs safely.

During the event, pills, powders and patches will be accepted, however, needles, sharps, asthma inhalers, mercury thermometers, iodine-containing medications, and illicit drugs (including marijuana which is still a schedule 1 drug under federal law) will not be accepted.

If you are unable to make it to the Take Back event, the Village of Sugar Grove also offers a Prescription Drug Drop Box Program. The public may safely dispose of unused/expired prescription at the drop box located in the Village Hall entryway, 10 S. Municipal Drive. The box is accessible to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

No needles, syringes or liquids are accepted. Please note, face coverings and social distancing are required in the building.
