Village of Sugar Grove Receives GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement in Excellence for Financial Reporting for 20th Year

The Village of Sugar Grove has received the Certificate of Achievement in Excellence for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 20th consecutive year. The program was established in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal. The award represents a significant achievement by the Village, reflecting the commitment of the Village Board and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

In order to receive the award, the Village’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) was judged by an impartial panel to verify it met Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as the additional high standards of the Certificate of Achievement program. These high standards include a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the Village’s financial story.
