Village Board Designates October as National Community Planning Month

Community planning helps to manage the constant change that affects all cities, towns and suburbs in a way that provides better choices for how people work and live. The planning process enables civic leaders, business interests, and citizens to play a meaningful role in creating a community that enriches people’s lives and is of lasting value.

To recognize these contributions, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, the Village Board passed a resolution designating October as National Community Planning Month in the Village of Sugar Grove. Established in 2006, National Community Planning Month is celebrated each October as a way to highlight the importance of good planning in our communities. This year’s theme — Planning Is Essential to Recovery — highlights how planning and planners can lead communities to equitable, resilient, and long-lasting recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Village Board recognizes the many valuable contributions made by professional community planners and extends their appreciation for the continued commitment to public service by these professionals.
