Public Participation Options for June 2, 2020 Village Board Meeting

The Village of Sugar Grove will hold its regularly scheduled Village Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, with changes to allow elected officials, staff and the public to participate remotely in compliance with the statewide Stay at Home Order. To view the agenda, click here.

To give a comment at the meeting, you may:

  • Email your comment to by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Your comment will be read aloud during the Public Comment portion of the Village Board meeting by a Village staff member.
  • Join by phone call. Just prior to the meeting, call (786) 535-3211 (Access Code:  990-128-869) to join through Go To Meeting. Members of the public will be muted during the meeting to allow the Village Board to conduct business, but will be unmuted during the public comment portion of the meeting.
  • You may also still attend the meeting and give public comment in person, however, for everyone’s safety residents are strongly encouraged to stay home and participate remotely. If attending in person, members of the public are required to stay six feet from any other person in the room. Room attendance will be limited to no more the ten people at any one time with attendees being rotated in if needed. Entrance to the Board Meeting will be through the door located at the back of Village Hall.

Public Comments, including emailed, by phone, and in person, will be limited to no more than three minutes per person as provided in Section 1-8-2-G2 of the Village Code. The total time for comments may be limited at the discretion of the Village President and Trustees.

In March, Illinois Gov. Pritzker announced a temporary change to the state’s Open Meetings Act that waives the requirement that a physical quorum of elected officials be present to hold a public meeting. Remote participation for elected officials, staff, and the public is expected to continue until the order is lifted.
