Despite the pandemic, the past several months have seen a flurry of development activity in Sugar Grove. This summer saw a much needed facelift to IL 47 through the heart of Sugar Grove. The project, which was overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation, included patching and resurfacing the seven mile stretch from Finley Road to U.S. 30, construction of new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and the replacement of deteriorated curbs.
In addition, work occurred at the intersection of IL 47 and Bliss Road/Wheeler Road. Consisting of constructing a right turn lane on the north leg (IL 47), a left turn lane on the west leg (Wheeler Road), dual left turn lanes on the east leg (Bliss Road) of the intersection as well as traffic signal modifications, the project improves traffic flow and safety at this busy intersection.
These road improvements have paved the way for new businesses and renovations in the community. The Village is excited to announce the following:
- The Grove Firewood and Mulch, at 41W950 Prairie Street, is newly opened for business offering firewood, topsoil and mulch.
- Dirty Pawz, at 50 B Cross Street, is expected to open in early November and will offer full service pet grooming Tuesday through Saturday.
- MetroNet is acquiring the building located at 20 S. Dugan Road to convert into its regional construction office and materials yard. MetroNet will be consolidating several of their construction offices to this location.
- Aldi has announced plans to renovate their store located at 11 W Park Avenue.
The Village welcomes these new businesses to our community and encourages residents to support local merchants.
