Grove Farms, LLC has formally applied for annexation of their property at 41W950 Prairie Street to the Village of Sugar Grove. Grove Farms intends to open a retail operation out of the existing barn focused on firewood and mulch. The sale of pumpkins, straw bales and topsoil are also under consideration. The existing black walnut orchard would remain and crops such as alfalfa and hay may be grown for sale as livestock feed.
The proposal was informally discussed at the July 21st Village Board meeting where Board members encouraged Grove Farms to annex to the Village rather than seek approval from Kane County. The Village heard concerns from nearby residents and urged Grove Farms to work with the neighbors and Village staff to address the concerns.
A public hearing on the Grove Farms’ special use permit application will be held on August 19, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. before the Village of Sugar Grove Planning Commission. Information on the public hearing, as well as a copy of the application, is available on the Village’s web site at www.sugargroveil.gov. The Plan Commission agenda will be available at the same site no later than August 17.
