Prestbury Dam Project
The Dam project is well underway with the drawdown pipe and the 54″ concrete drain pipe installed. Work will soon shift to armament of the west end of the 1500’ earthen dam length of the structure and installation of the emergency spillway. All of this work is part of an approved plan which was finalized in 2018. This project was mandated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources with approvals at the Federal, State, County and local level required to proceed. The objective of the project is to armor the existing 1500 feet of earthen dam with clay and rip-rap the prevent future erosion, create a new emergency spillway, and replace the rusted 24-inch pipe with a 54-inch reinforced concrete drain pipe. The project being managed by McHugh Construction Company and is on track with the planned timeline to have the majority of the work completed in October 2019.
