Last week, the Governor announced the implementation of “Restore Illinois” COVID-19 Tier 1 mitigation efforts in Kane County effective Friday, October 23. These additional mitigation efforts prohibit indoor dining and set an 11:00 p.m. closing time for all bars and restaurants, among other restrictions. These enhanced mitigation efforts were set to slow the spread of COVID-19 in response to Region 8 (Kane and DuPage Counties) reporting three consecutive days of average test positivity rates exceeding 8%. A complete summary of the changes can be found on the State’s website.
These additional mitigations will remain in effect for 14 days. During that time, health officials will continue to track the regions’ positivity rate to determine if the mitigations should remain in place, if mitigations can be relaxed or if additional mitigations are required for Region 8.
To reverse the upward trajectory of COVID-19 cases and help our community return to business, all residents are urged to do their part and follow the 3 Ws.
- WEAR a mask
- WATCH your distance
- WASH your hands.
Merchants are encouraged to visit the Sugar Grove Economic Development Corporation COVID-19 website for the grant information and assistance programs to help during the pandemic.
Insofar as the mitigation efforts pertain to the current public health crisis, the Kane County Health Department is encouraging the community to report concerns about COVID Safety Compliance by calling 630-208-3801 or sending an email to COVIDConcerns@co.kane.il.us. The Health Department is working with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to investigate and enforce violations.
