Village Receives Award in Financial Reporting for 16th Time

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded for the 16th year in a row to Village of Sugar Grove for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).  This award is given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel and must meet the several standards including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story must be an easily readable and efficiently organized and must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements

The Award of Financial Reporting Achievement is awarded to the individual(s), department or agency designated as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.  On behalf of the Village of Sugar Grove this award has been presented to: The Village of Sugar Grove’s Former Finance Director Pat Chamberlin, by the GFOA.

Matt Anastasia, the current Finance Director stated “The achievement of this award by Ms. Chamberlin on behalf of the Village would not have been possible without the support of the Village President, Board of Trustees and the Village Administrator.  In my time here I have witnessed their dedication to setting policies with high principles for management of Village’s finances.   I look forward to work with the Village Board as have my predecessors to insure that the Village remains fiscally responsible to our citizens.”

“We have consistently worked to present a balanced budget, and to work within that budget while continuing to work towards improving the Village.  The receipt of this award is the culmination of the work of the Village Board and the dedication of our professional staff to insure that we remain financially sound and our resident can easily obtain information on how their tax dollars are spent”, said President P.
