Recreational camp fires of less than three feet (3′) in diameter burning untreated wood only, within a contained area, is allowed between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Festive and/or ceremonial burnings in excess of three feet (3′) in diameter with a permit issued by the Village. The Village Administrator or his/her designee shall review the permit request and may approve a permit with certain conditions or deny the request on the grounds of public safety when appropriate. Permitted burning hours shall be between the hours of 10:0 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Open fires used for cooking food at public or private gatherings, provided that such fires are exclusively for said purposes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. through 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Leaves, diseased trees and tree debris may only be burned on the premises on which they are generated. Yard debris burning is only allowed during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a wind of less than 10 mph.
All fires must be attended at all times by a person of at least 18 years of age. Fires must be completely extinguished beyond the permitted burning times, or if not attended.
Burning is not allowed in the public right of way and must be at least 20 feet from any right of way. In addition, burning must be at least 5 feet from any neighboring side or rear lot and no less than 20 feet from any structure.
Please be safe when burning. Always have a bucket of water, a garden hose or shovel and dirt close by to put out the fire.
