The Village of Sugar Grove has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 13th consecutive year. The award program was established in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect established guidelines and recommended practices on budgeting and to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal. The award represents a significant achievement by the Village, reflecting the commitment of the Village Board and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to receive the budget award, the Village had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories to receive the award. All documents are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and by outside reviewers with experience in public-sector budgeting.
Congratulations to Matt Anastasia, Village of Sugar Grove Finance Director, and his team for earning this award.
