The Illinois Tollway is rebuilding the Illinois Route 47 Interchange on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) to provide a new, full-access interchange. The $25 million project will realign existing ramps and build new ramps creating greater access into the Sugar Grove community and supporting economic development opportunities along Route 47. The project will also include the rehabilitation of the existing Route 47 Bridge over I-88.
Work on the interchange began April 1. Shoulder closures in both directions between Blackberry Creek and Illinois Route 47 are in place. Temporary, off-peak lane closures will be scheduled as needed. In addition, traffic on the ramps carrying Illinois Route 47 to westbound I-88 and eastbound I-88 to Illinois Route 47 is shifted.
On IL Route 47 between Finley Road and Seavey Road, traffic is reduced to a single lane in both directions.
A 45 mph work zone speed limit is in effect on IL Route 47 and I-88 throughout the project.
Traffic is scheduled to remain in this configuration for the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
