Holiday decorating and strings of lights that won’t work go hand and hand. Make it a green holiday this season by recycling your unwanted lights instead of throwing them away.
DC Recycling Systems will accept holiday lights as part of its monthly electronics pickup the first full week of each month on your regular day of garbage/recycling service. The next electronics pickup is January 7th and 8th, 2019. Lights need to be placed in a cardboard box labeled “e-waste” and placed at the curb. If you have additional electronic recycling items, please place the lights in a bag so items do not become tangled together. All electronics pickups must be scheduled online no later than the Thursday prior to pickup. Click here to schedule a pickup. Pickups for January must be scheduled by Thursday, January 3rd.
