The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs to the Hankes Road bridge over Illinois 56 will begin, weather permitting, Sept. 9.
The project involves painting, installing an asphalt overlay on the bridge and other miscellaneous repairs. There will be daily lane closures on Illinois 56 and flaggers controlling traffic on Hankes Road.
The work is expected to be complete by the end of October.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
This project is 100% IDOT and the Village has no role or responsibility.
